  "title": "A Mew That Went On Sale Today Has Had Six Prices, and None of Them Is a Sale",
  "summary": "Mew ex 158/128 from the 30th Celebration set last read $1,158.37, which would make it the 37th most expensive English card we price. Its entire recorded history is sixteen daily readings containing six prices: $3,166.50, $3,333.00 held for six days, $2,466.50, $1,977.66, $1,808.25, then $1,158.37. That is 65.2% off the peak in twelve days, in five steps rather than a decline. We hold no sold comps for it at all, and the cheapest copy you can actually buy costs 11.4% more than the price we quote. Restated September 17 after we found our own figure was stale.",

  "method": [
    "Read from moonstone production on September 17, 2026, and RESTATED from the original September 16 publication; see the note at the top for what changed and why. Prices are the provider's own daily series as we cache it, one reading per card per day, quoted unmodified: sixteen readings for Mew ex spanning September 1 to 16 and thirty-five for Mewtwo ex spanning August 13 to September 16. The 65.2% fall is $1,158.37 against the $3,333.00 peak; the separate 63.4% implied by the first observation is against $3,166.50. Percentage changes in the table are each row against the row above it. The catalogue ranking counts English-language cards carrying a live market price above zero, 21,650 on the day of writing, priced by the canonical printing rule the card pages use, with the freshness fix described in the correction note applied. Low is the cheapest listed copy in the same payload as the market figure, so the two are read at the same instant and the inversion is not a timing artifact. The card page publishes the low rather than the market figure whenever the latter falls beneath it; both numbers and which one is published are shown on the card page itself. Zero recorded sales means the stored payload carries an empty sales array and an empty graded array; it is a statement about our tape and NOT a claim that no copy has changed hands anywhere. The withheld population is the shared-registry rule described in the linked piece, not a gap in coverage. CORRECTED 2026-09-22: the catalogue rank was published as 36th and recomputes to 37th at the $1,158.37 reading on the same 21,600-odd English universe, one place below a $1,199 Wizards Pokemon Center promo and one place above a $1,150 Plasma Storm Charizard; the Gyarados star delta named as a neighbour reads $1,333.56 at that reading and is eight places higher, so Torchic star at $1,200 takes its place. That universe count is not deduplicated on the TCGplayer product id, and 240 English catalog rows share an id with another row, so it runs about 19 rows high. And the whole sixteen-day series predates the set going on sale: 30th Celebration launched September 16, 2026, so every reading quoted here is a presale quote rather than a post-release price. That strengthens the argument and it should have been said in the first sentence. One caveat a reader should have: the provider's series has been re-dated since publication and no longer carries these prices on these dates, so the six price levels and their order reproduce exactly while the date ranges and per-price reading counts in the table above cannot be rechecked."
