What the terminal records

The catalog holds 63,600 Pokémon cards, English and Japanese printings included, with a set page for 165 sets. Each card has a page of its own, and the figures on it come from four series we record ourselves rather than quote:

  • The daily price tape. The TCGplayer market price of every priced printing, recorded once a day since August 30, 2026: 25 recorded days across 52,741 products, the latest on September 23, 2026. Trailing moves, drawdowns and the movers board are measured on this tape, median against median over a stated window.
  • Verified graded sales. Medians of recorded eBay sales for PSA 10, PSA 9 and the other grades, each with its sample size, on 12,704 cards with at least two verified comps. A graded price on moonstone is never a multiplier on a raw price, and a single sale is shown as a sale, not a median.
  • PSA populations. Daily snapshots of the PSA registry, 51 recorded days on 24,365 cards: how many copies PSA has graded, how many came back a 10, and how fast new slabs arrive. The gem rate is tens over total; a registry line with no PSA 10 figure is reported as absent, not as zero. The Grading Desk reads this series weekly.
  • Grading math. The gem rate at which grading breaks even, solved from today's price plus a $20 fee against the PSA 10 and PSA 9 medians. When the PSA 9 alone clears the cost the page says no tens are needed; when even a PSA 10 does not, it says so. A negative or over-100% rate is never printed as a percentage.

How to read a figure here

Every figure we publish carries its sample size and its window. Graded prices are medians of recorded sales, never multipliers on a raw price. A gem rate with no recorded PSA 10 is reported as absent, not as zero. We refuse to state figures the data cannot support, and an article says so in its methodology block where the evidence is thin.

The research desk publishes 170 notes on that data, from the investment thesis to weekly picks with a public track record. Every study names the tables it was computed from and states its window, and an independent recompute audits the published notes nightly.
