The question has a real answer and it is not the one the wikis give, because the wikis hold the numbers and the marketplaces hold the prices and nobody crosses them. We read every TCGplayer English Pokemon product record that carries a printed HP, 22,421 single cards after exclusions, pulled the damage box out of every attack on each one, and put a Near Mint price next to it. The ladder below is the whole top of that population. The cheapest card on it costs fifty cents.

| Pikachu ex (Ascended Heroes) | 300 | 200 | 9 of 9 | $3.22 057/217 | $301.51 277/217 |
Every price here is the TCGplayer Near Mint market price for that exact printing. Those in the two tables, and every price named in the prose, carry a stamp between 3 and 11 October 2026, with two exceptions named where they appear: the $1,501.23 Flashfire secret above carries 19 September 2026, and the five jumbo quotes in the exclusions run from June to October. The bar chart lower down is the whole population rather than the top of it, and it does carry older stamps; the methodology counts them. A quote is not a sale. The two columns on the right are the same card at two art treatments, so the gap between them is a statement about rarity and nothing at all about the numbers on the card. An asterisk on a dearest cell means a printing with a higher quote was kept out of it, because that quote has not changed in fourteen daily readings; the callout further down names both. The set in brackets is the printing we link to; the cheapest and dearest cells name their own printings, which are often in another set entirely. One published note of ours sits near this one. Cute vs Strong split fifty species into camps and asked which paid, which is a question about Pikachu and Charizard as characters. This one never looks at the species. It reads the HP box and the damage box off 22,421 product records, which is a thing that note could not do and nobody else publishes next to a price.
The card with the biggest number is four cards
Zacian V-UNION is a V-UNION, which means it was printed as four quarters across the SWSH Black Star Promos and you assemble all four in play before any of it does anything. Master Blade prints 340, costs four Energy with three of them Metal, and discards three on use. On 9 October 2026 the four quarters quoted $2.89, $2.99, $2.98 and $5.78 Near Mint, which is $14.64 for one card. The provider also sells the four as a bundle, quoted $14.53 two days later. One honest caveat on the stat itself: TCGplayer repeats the full assembled card text on all four product rows, so every quarter's record carries HP 320 and all four attacks, and we cannot say from this data which physical quarter the 340 is printed on.
Second place is 330 and two cards hold it: Mega Dragonite ex with Ryuno Glide, and Charizard ex from 151 with Explosive Vortex. Those two plus Zacian V-UNION are the entire 330-and-above population, 14 printings between them. Mega Dragonite ex also carries the second widest price spread in the table: the plain Double Rare out of Ascended Heroes quotes $4.78 and the Special Illustration Rare of the identical card quotes $482.58, which is 101 times the price for the same 370 HP and the same 330 damage box.
Four hundred damage, under a dollar
The damage box is not the ceiling. Mega Feraligatr ex prints Mortal Crunch as 200+, and the line under it reads: if your opponent's Active Pokemon already has any damage counters on it, this attack does 200 more damage. That is 400, on a 370 HP card, and it is the largest total any single printed condition reaches in the population. The Double Rare quotes $0.94, the promo quotes $0.57 and the Special Illustration Rare quotes $87.92. Next on that measure is Gyarados ex from Scarlet & Violet, whose Tyrannical Tail prints 180+ and adds 180 on the same condition, for 360. Of the 22,421 cards in the population, 4,249 carry at least one of these plus attacks. Another 2,213 carry a multiplier instead, written as a number followed by x, and those have to be read one at a time rather than ranked. Blastoise ex prints Twin Cannons as 140x, which sounds unbounded and is not: the text lets you discard up to two Energy, so the card tops out at 280. Mega Gardevoir ex prints Mega Symphonia as 50x for each Psychic Energy attached to all of your Pokemon, and that one has no printed bound at all. We rank neither, because a multiplier is a rule and not a figure, and the honest version of the ranking is the printed box.
The HP ceiling is 380, and three cards hold it
Ten product rows in the population print 380 HP, and they are three cards: Mega Venusaur ex from Mega Evolution across five printings, $0.97 to $140.47; Mega Emboar ex across three, $0.50 to $40.44; and Wailord ex from Pitch Black across two, $0.69 and $3.99. Mega Emboar ex is the highest HP in print on a card that also prints a 320 box, and only Mega Dragonite ex at 370 and 330 matches its 700 combined. The promo of it is the cheapest card in the 300-damage table. There is a coverage gap underneath this and it needs saying plainly. Of the 94 printings in the combined top club here, cards at 300 damage or more or 360 HP or more, 93 have a row in our catalog and only 10 of those carry an HP from TCGdex, our identity source. The other 83 are null there, including every Mega Evolution era set except Pitch Black. Where both sources do carry a number, all 10 agree. The two Wailord ex rows are the only 380 HP printings in the whole population that a second source confirms.
The nine cards that print 360 HP or more, and what the cheapest copy costs
| Card | HP | Biggest printed box | Printings quoted | Cheapest Near Mint | Dearest Near Mint |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mega Emboar ex (Ascended Heroes) | 380 | 320 | 3 of 3 | $0.50 | $40.44 |
| Wailord ex (Pitch Black) | 380 | 270 | 2 of 2 | $0.69 | $3.99 |
| Mega Venusaur ex (Mega Evolution) | 380 | 240 | 5 of 5 | $0.97 | $140.47 |
| Mega Dragonite ex (Ascended Heroes) | 370 | 330 | 5 of 6 | $4.78 | $482.58 |
| Mega Feraligatr ex (Ascended Heroes) | 370 | 200+, reaches 400 | 3 of 3 | $0.57 | $87.92 |
| Mega Gardevoir ex (Mega Evolution) | 360 | 50x, no printed bound | 7 of 7 | $0.77 | $177.67 |
| Mega Charizard X ex (Phantasmal Flames) | 360 | 90x, no printed bound | 7 of 7 | $5.31 | $661.14 |
| Mega Charizard Y ex (Ascended Heroes) | 360 | 280 to any 1 of their Pokemon | 4 of 4 | $5.25 | $300.78 |
| Mega Meganium ex (Ascended Heroes) | 360 | 70+, scales per Energy | 3 of 3 | $0.67 | $69.01 |
Below those nine sit 80 more printings at 340 or 350 HP, and the pattern holds all the way down. Mega Lucario ex prints 340 and a 270 box across eight printings quoted from $0.81 to $228.55. Slaking ex from Surging Sparks prints 340 and 280 and its two printings quote 69 cents and $1.14. Mega Camerupt ex prints the same pair and runs $0.65 to $1.74. If the question is what the toughest card in the game costs, the answer for most of the top of the table is a dollar.
The printed ceiling by year of release, with the promo groups dropped
Read that chart as the ceiling with the promo groups out of it, not as the all-time ceiling. The 340 damage box is missing because Zacian V-UNION is a promo, and those groups are dropped for a reason worth printing: the provider dates a card by the group it sits in, and the Prize Pack Series Cards group is stamped 30 November 2022 while carrying 2026 Mega Dragonite ex printings. Leave that group in and 2022 reads 380 HP, off a Mega Venusaur ex whose own set shipped in September 2025. The Deck Exclusives group is stamped September 2016, and 135 of its 506 rows carry the name and number of a card from an expansion published after that, the latest of them in November 2025. What survives the cut is still a clean shape: 120 HP was the ceiling for the first four years, Chansey in Base Set among them; Wailord ex took it to 200 in Sandstorm in 2003 and nothing beat 200 for eleven years; the first 300 damage box was printed in 2014, on four XY Flashfire printings at once; and 2026 is a partial year, ten months in.
Strength is priced, and thinly
Median Near Mint price by the biggest damage box the card prints
The ladder rises the whole way, and the jump at the top is a sevenfold step rather than a continuation: $3.57 at 250 to 299, $26.11 at 300 and up. Before anyone reads that as a premium on power, split the top bar by what the printing is. Of its 62 quoted printings, 35 carry a chase rarity, counting Ultra Rare, Secret Rare, Rainbow Rare, Shiny Holo Rare, Special Illustration Rare, Hyper Rare and the two Mega rarities, and those 35 have a median of $72.73. The other 27 are plain Double Rares, promos and one World Championship Decks row the provider leaves unrated; their median is $5.25 and 13 of them are under $5. The bar is measuring art rarity and release era alongside damage, and 62 rows will not separate the three. The useful number for a buyer is the other one: take the cheapest printing of each of the 16 cards that print 300 or more and the median is $7.79, with 7 of the 16 available under $5.
Inside a single card the spread is larger than anything the stats explain. Of the 16 cards in the table the widest is Mega Latias ex, $0.69 to $72.73 across five printings, 105 times. Mega Dragonite ex is next at 101 times, then Pikachu ex at 94 times across nine printings, then Mega Emboar ex at 81 times across three. Each of those four ratios puts one Holofoil Near Mint quote against another on the same card, with the same printed HP and the same printed damage box, which is the only way the comparison means anything. The ratio we are not printing is the tempting one. Go by the name and Charizard GX spans $9.61 to $819.94, 85 times, and the name is doing all the work there: the $9.61 copy is the Hidden Fates card with Flamethrower and Flare Blitz GX, the $819.94 copy is the Burning Shadows card with Wing Attack, Crimson Storm and Raging Out GX. Two cards, one name, the same 250 HP and the same 300 box. Held apart they run 1.4 times across three printings and 31 times across four, and that is why the table above gives them a row each.
What we threw out, and why
Three exclusions decide this ranking, so here they are with their counts. 342 rows are oversized Jumbo Cards, and five of those print 1000 damage: four 500 HP display cards and a Shadow Lugia promo at 300 HP, quoted $55.00, $31.41, $21.35, $15.00 and $13.00 on days spread from June to October 2026. They are display pieces with no legal play, and a reader who finds a site claiming the strongest card does 1000 damage has found someone who did not drop them. One row is a provider typo: Regice from Journey Together carries HP 1210 in the TCGplayer record, TCGdex prints 120 on the same card, and the Near Mint quote is 12 cents. Six rows are multi-card bundles, the V-UNION sets of four, which are four cards in a sleeve and not one card.
Two things this note cannot do. It is English only: the universe is what TCGplayer carries, so Japanese-exclusive printings are absent, and the right way to read the headline is that 340 is the biggest damage box ever printed in English and carried by that marketplace. And the stats half of it has no live surface on our own site yet. A card page here shows the Near Mint price, the printings and the sold record, and it does not show HP or attack damage, so the price in every row above is checkable on our own page for the card and the 380 and the 320 are not. They are checkable in the TCGplayer product record the figures came from.
Source tables: tcgcsv_products (32,868 TCGplayer English Pokemon product rows, the provider's own extendedData parsed for the HP field and the Attack 1 to Attack 4 fields), condition_quotes (the Near Mint row, condition 'NM', price above zero, one quote per product), nm_history (the daily Near Mint tape, used only for the flat-price test in the callout), tcgcsv_groups (published_on, for the year chart), and cards (to verify that every card id linked above exists, and to read the TCGdex HP where we hold one). 22,770 of the 32,868 rows carry a numeric HP. Exclusions, in order: 342 Jumbo Cards rows, 6 [Set of N] bundle rows, all of them V-UNION sets of four, and 1 row whose HP reads 1210, leaving a universe of 22,421 single-card printings, of which 22,264 carry a Near Mint quote (99.3%). Attack fields are filled on 22,671 rows at slot 1, 12,951 at slot 2, 427 at slot 3 and 42 at slot 4. The damage box is parsed two ways because the provider writes it two ways: a parenthesised figure, and the legacy 'Attack Name - 300' form used in the 23 XY Flashfire rows. A plus attack is scored as its printed base plus the one 'does N more damage' clause in its text, and is ranked separately from the printed box; an attack whose bonus scales, the 'for each' wording, is not totalled at all, and neither is a multiplier. The 22,421 split three ways with nothing counted twice: 17,006 printings carry a readable damage box, 3,496 carry only a plus or a multiplier figure, and 1,919 carry no damage figure in any form. The 191 rows with no attack field at all sit inside that 1,919, alongside 1,728 that have an attack field with no figure in it. Counted across the whole universe instead, 4,249 rows carry a plus attack and 2,213 a multiplier, and those two overlap the 17,006. The bar chart's population is the 16,890 of the 17,006 that also carry a quote. Every median printed here is the average of the two middle values on an even sample, taken to the cent and rounded up at the half cent. Printings are folded to one card by name and by attack text rather than by name alone: a name printed in two sets is one card when the attack text matches, which is why Charizard VSTAR covers Brilliant Stars and Crown Zenith and why the four quarters of a V-UNION count once, and two names on the list are two cards each, Charizard GX (Flare Blitz GX against Crimson Storm) and M Charizard EX (the X with Wild Blaze at 230 HP against the Y with Crimson Dive at 220). That fold is what makes 63 printings 16 cards. Dates: every quote in the two tables and the prose is stamped between 2026-10-03 and 2026-10-11, except the $1,501.23 M Charizard EX secret at 2026-09-19 and the five jumbo quotes in the exclusions, which run from 2026-06-04 to 2026-10-11. The bar chart is looser because it is the whole population: 457 of its 16,890 quotes sit outside that nine day window, 403 of them in the under 100 band, and the oldest is stamped 2025-07-21. The year chart drops every group whose name carries Promo, Prize Pack, Jumbo, Deck Exclusives, League, Championship, Trainer Kit, World Championship or Miscellaneous, because the provider dates a card by its group and those groups carry cards printed years after their stamp: the Prize Pack group is stamped 2022-11-30 and holds 2026 printings, and 135 of the 506 Deck Exclusives rows carry the name and number of a card from a later expansion. It then drops 11 more groups whose published_on is 2026-10-12, the day the file was read, which is a fallback and not a release date (Blister Exclusives, First Partner Pack and POP Series 1 to 9, 311 printings). That leaves 17,467 printings across 155 groups. Both series are value for value identical with those 11 groups left in (17,778 across 166) and identical again with the provider's supplemental groups dropped, so the shape does not rest on where the cut lands. 2026 is ten months of a year. Every price read was issued as a batched primary-key IN lookup against condition_quotes or nm_history, with the query plan checked before each sweep.
