Half the new slabs are tens, and that is the whole story
53.1% of every new slab in our window came back gem mint. Modern print quality plus modern pre-screening means a PSA 10 is not a lottery anymore for current-era cards, it is the EXPECTED outcome of a careful submission. Now connect that to the fastest registries above: a JP Mega Gengar ex adds 1,600 slabs a week to a pop already at 39,000, and roughly 850 of those weekly arrivals are tens. The reverse also holds and is where the index earns its keep for buyers: vintage registries have effectively stopped. Team Rocket Dark Charizard adds about 34 slabs a week against a pop of 9,591, a third of a percent, and the attic supply that feeds it is finite. When you pay a scarcity premium, this index is the difference between scarcity that is structural and scarcity that is a Tuesday.
